Could Living by the Moon Phases benefit you?
I have always loved the moon and watching the stars.
As kids me and my best friend used to lie on sun beds at night wrapped in blankets, a flask of tea at our sides, watching the skies.
Moon Facts
- The Moon is Earth’s only natural satellite and the fifth largest moon in the solar system.
- The Moon’s presence helps stabilize our planet’s wobble, which helps stabilise our climate.
- The Moon’s distance from Earth is about 240,000 miles (385,000km).
- The Moon has a very thin atmosphere called an exosphere.
- The Moon’s entire surface is cratered and pitted from impacts.
The moon has guided humans for thousands of years.
How can you incorporate the phases of the moon to benefit your lifestyle.
As I am writing this it is the Autumn Equinox when the hours of day and night are equal and balanced, the moon is a waxing crescent, this means the moon is growing larger to our eyes in the sky.
The different phases of the moon are said to provide different energies and different benefits.
What if we could work with the phases of the moon to make us more productive, goals easier to achieve and life a little more magical?
Dark Moon
This phase marks the last visible crescent of the waning (decreasing) moon. The dark moon signifies New Beginnings.
During this time we can feel quite emotional and struggle to motivate ourselves but this is a good time to reflect, decide what you no longer want in your life and move forward.
New Moon
In gardening the new moon is said to be the time to sew seeds, this is the beginning of the lunar cycle and a time when we can decide what seeds we want to plant for our future lives.
This is the time to make plans and set clear intentions.
Waxing Crescent & Quarter
Waxing means growing. This is the ‘doing’ part of the cycle. This is the time to start something new and get projects off the ground and make plans.
The first quarter is the half-moon, a quarter way through the cycle. This is where we build momentum towards our goals and things start to come together, use your plan you made during the New Moon to tick off your goals.
Waxing Gibbous
As the moon is almost full energy levels begin to build, it’s the last big push of lunar energy, this is the time to complete what you set out to do at the start of the month.
Full Moon
This is a time of celebration, you will be able to see things clearly, take stock and evaluate. Celebrate what you have achieved.
Waning Gibbous
During this phase of the moon, you could see your energy levels nosedive. This is a time for self-care and reflection. What worked? What didn’t? What changes do you need to make?
Waning last Quarter
The last quarter before the cycle starts again. It is time to release all that you need to let go of, anything that no longer serves you. You are now ready for the next cycle.
Putting it into Action
If you have made goals for the year, this is an ideal way to break those down into achievable steps, for instance:
Take one big annual goal, break it down into 12 monthly steps, take each step through this process of action and reflection to achieve the end goal 🙂
Try looking at healthy habits you want to incorporate into your lifestyle, add one while motivation and energy are high, keep track of this using my FREE Habit Tracker, when its time to reflect ask yourself if this new habit is serving you then either keep it, tweak it or pick another.
This could be a good way to keep yourself on track and if your goal changes you can adjust course.
If you are interested in tracking the moon phases I love my Moon Phase Calendar it looks decorative on my wall too 🙂
