New Moon in Aries, Ignite Your Menopause Journey.

Embracing the Fire of Transformation

The New Moon in Aries is not only the beginning of a new lunar cycle but also the astrological new year.  Which, if our calendar hadn’t changed in the 1500s we would still be celebrating the new year now along with nature.

Cardinal Fire sign Aries brings the energy of action.

The time for dreaming is over.

At its core, menopause is a period of profound transformation, a time of endings and beginnings, of letting go and embracing the new.

I invite you to use this Aries energy to ignite your purpose and release what no longer serves you.

It is a time to burn bridges to the past, to let go of outdated beliefs, toxic relationships, and self-imposed limitations that are holding you back from fully embracing your authentic self.

Join me as I delve into the depths of the New Moon in Aries and how you can implement this energy to support you in fulfilling your health and well-being goals.

Harnessing the Power of Purpose

Putting any physical menopause symptoms aside that you may be experiencing, many women feel adrift at this stage of their life and need to find a new direction.

As estrogen fluctuates and eventually remains you might find yourself asking “What is my purpose?”

This can often coincide with the emptying of their nest.

Children are leaving for university or creating families and homes of their own, or at the very least using the family home as a B&B which can leave you feeling unsure of your role now you are no longer nurturing your offspring.

It is estrogen that helps us to feel nurturing and put others’ needs before our own, lack of estrogen may lead to your feeling that now is your time but what do you want to do?  What can you do?

Back to the annoying and often debilitating symptoms of menopause and you may not have the motivation to discover your purpose or find new opportunities and begin to feel like menopause is the end of your life as you know it.

The first stage in discovering your purpose is to turn inward.

Get to know yourself again.

  • What brings you joy?
  • What activities do you enjoy?
  • What hobbies do you have or would you like?
  • What are your value systems?
  • What are your belief systems?

Living life against your values causes friction and disharmony.

Discover what your current values are.  The life you have lived up until now will have shaped your inner world.  Discover what is important to you at this stage of life and create your Menopause Vision Statement with this free short course.

Letting Go and Burning Bridges

Part of learning about your current self involves releasing what and sometimes who no longer serves you.  Think about;

  • Toxic relationships
  • Strained familial bonds
  • Self-limiting beliefs
  • Negative thought patterns

The New Moon in Aries empowers you to set boundaries, prioritise your well-being, and let go of personal relationships that dim your light and hinder your growth.

Just as important as releasing external obstacles is letting go of the internal barriers that hold us back from embracing our true potential.

The Aries New Moon encourages you to confront and challenge self-limiting beliefs, negative thought patterns, and outdated narratives that keep you stuck in fear and self-doubt.

By acknowledging these beliefs and consciously choosing to let them go, you can create space for growth, expansion, and empowerment in our menopause journey.

Burning bridges doesn’t necessarily mean harbouring resentment or holding onto grudges. Instead, it’s about acknowledging past hurts, finding closure, and offering forgiveness, to others and yourself.

Do you need to find a new social circle and build new relationships that support your dream life?

Ignite Fat Burning

Speaking of burning, of the many many symptoms of menopause the one I get asked about most often is weight gain.

Diet culture has done a number on us all.  It has made many women obsessed with a number on the scales.

This number dictates your life, your mood for the day, what you will eat, how much exercise you will do, and how you will talk to yourself.

I get it, this was me for a great deal of my adult life.

I knew when I became a Nutrition Therapist that I didn’t want to help women lose weight because not only could I not do it consistently by myself, I knew there had to be a better way than punishing and depriving myself.

Over the past four years, I have researched and tested many theories and delved deep into many rabbit holes and know these things for certain;

  • Finding the ideal weight for your body is not about calories in versus calories out.  Calories don’t control the body, hormones do.
  • It’s impossible to get long-term results from a calorie deficit because the body is constantly seeking homeostasis.
  • Exercise in the form of ‘burning off the calories you eat’ doesn’t provide a long-term resolution either because additional energy expenditure will always be matched by requirement.

To kick off this new lunar phase I want to reframe ‘losing weight’ to losing FAT.

It is fat that you need to focus on if your body is bigger than it needs to be to be optimally healthy.

Body positivity should be embraced, life is too short to wait until you have the body of your dreams to start a new chapter.  Hating your body will not motivate you to treat it well.

I believe in ‘health of every size’, we are all unique one size is not healthier than another.

However additional body fat, especially in the abdominal area is linked to many diseases such as diabetes and cancer.  Dementia is being called Type 3 Diabetes because of studies showing a link between blood sugar and the degeneration of the brain.

Excess body fat is how your body has protected you from high blood sugar levels, so thank your body and your fat, but now you need to access this stored fat and use it.

This is where diet culture lets us down.

To burn stored fat you need to work with your body, not against it.  You need to support every organ and system in your body to work towards the same goal and flip the switch to fat burn.

Depending on how long you have been fighting against your body it is a process for your body and mind to go through to flip this switch but I am here to tell you it can be done, my journey is proving this.

If your personal goals are to lose weight or take control of debilitating menopause symptoms, here are my top tips for positive change;

  • Rest – Stop pushing through and listen to your body when it needs to rest.  Get enough sleep for your body, and resolve the root cause of waking in the night.
  • Nourish – Stop counting calories, fuel your body with whole unprocessed food and listen when your body says it’s hungry or had enough.
  • Mindset – Stop measuring your virtue against the food you eat, you are not good or bad because of what you have chosen to eat.
  • Move – Stop using exercise as a tool to burn calories.  Think of exercise and movement as keeping your body strong and healthy.
  • Relax – Stop stressing.  Life is full of stress, find strategies such as boundaries and hobbies to release stress from your body.

Through my 1-1 work with clients and my own menopause health and well-being journey, I have created the SHIFT System.

This system works with every unique menopause journey and lifestyle to reveal a pathway to reconnecting with your body, getting to the root cause of menopause symptoms to find relief.

Use the new moon in Aries as your springboard to take control of your menopause journey.

Embrace the spring as your new year and commit yourself to start nourishing and working with your body rather than punishing and working against it.

Intentions for the New Moon in Aries

Working with the moon cycles has supported me to connect with my body through my menopause journey.

For 15 years after the birth of my last child, I used the Merina Coil as my preferred form of contraception.

I loved it, no issues, no periods, I told everyone who wanted to know to get one.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I was never brought up to see the power in my monthly cycle.  It was always an inconvenience, something that was talked about in hushed tones.

When I started my journey as a nutrition therapist and went diving down all the rabbit holes to find the best ways to work with my body to achieve my health goals I came across cyclical living, working with the cycles of nature and your body to nourish it each season.

As I didn’t have a cycle and I was starting to experience symptoms in my body which upon asking Uncle Google sounded like menopause, I thought I would get my coil removed and ‘see where my body was at’.

It took a couple of months to have a menstrual cycle and it has been very sporadic since then, my longest cycle to date is 6 months.

Wanting to embrace cyclical living and not having a predictable cycle, I found the moon cycle through a business coach. I adapted this into my business, sharing this as a tool to support my clients as well as myself.

Working with the moon cycles has been a revelation.

My favourite part is to set intentions with each new moon and I want to encourage you to start doing this if you don’t already.  With the new moon in Aries on Monday 8th April, there is no better time.

  1. Set a health goal for the next 12 months.
  2. Break this down into 12 mini-goals.
  3. Use the new moon to set your intentions – the actions you will take – to work towards your ‘Big Goal’.
  4. At the next new moon set the next and so on.

That’s it.

You can use this process for a few goals or perhaps one goal for each area of your life you want to work towards, here is a Life Balance Wheel worksheet to help you do this.

At the end of each cycle, review your actions.

Did you do enough or do you need to take more action next cycle?  Don’t beat yourself up, use the information to move forward.

Each moon cycle encourages you to plan, take action, complete and rest.  You can learn more about this by joining my Facebook Group Community.
