Aquarius Traits and Menopause

We all have a little of each sign somewhere in our chart.  Where does yours fall?

Are you an Aquarius woman? You may be most familiar with your sun sign, this is the most common way we look at the zodiac signs, the sign the sun was in when you were born, it gives a unique perspective relating to your conscious energy, your sense of self (spirit), but did you know your moon sign, the sign the moon was in when you were born relates to your internal self, your circadian rhythm, nutrition and hormonal health.

Your Rising Sign relates to external matters, physicality, structure, immunity and resilience.  Get your free natal chart HERE download your birth chart and find out if you have an Aquarius moon sign or the moon position when you were born.

Following are the main traits of Aquarius and how they relate to menopause;

Authenticity: At the heart of the Aquarian spirit lies a deep commitment to authenticity and self-expression.

During menopause, as we navigate the myriad of changes and transitions, embracing our true selves becomes paramount.

Aquarius reminds us to honour our unique ways, celebrate our individuality, and stand boldly in our truth as free spirits.

The beauty of menopause is that this becomes easier as estrogen drops.  Estrogen is our nurturing hormone allowing us to put others’ needs before our own and accept it.  As we age and estrogen levels drop so does the desire to keep putting everyone else first.  You are not selfish, it is just your time, nature says so!

Whether it’s exploring new facets of your identity, exploring your emotional needs, shedding societal expectations, or embracing your innermost desires, Aquarius encourages you to embrace authenticity as the cornerstone of your menopausal journey.

Create some personal space in your daily or weekly routines to try new things and forge an emotional connection with your inner world.

Innovation: Aquarius is renowned for its inventive spirit and breaking free from tradition.

In the realm of menopause, this innovative energy becomes a guiding light, inspiring you to explore a new unique approach to health, well-being, and self-care.

As you navigate the challenges and opportunities of this transformative phase of life, Aquarius encourages you to think outside the box, embrace unconventional solutions, and forge your unique path forward. Whether it’s adopting new technologies, exploring alternative therapies, or reimagining your daily routines.

Looking to the Future: With its forward-thinking perspective and boundless optimism, Aquarius reminds us to look to the future with hope and anticipation.

As you journey through menopause, facing the unknown and navigating uncharted territory, try to envision the life you want to create beyond perimenopause.

Whether it’s setting intentions, clarifying goals, or dreaming big dreams, the new moon cultivates a sense of possibility.  Set your new moon intentions and start creating the life of your dreams with intention.

Breaking Out of the Menopause Health Rut

Poor sleep, aching joints and unstable moods don’t exactly inspire the motivation to create a healthy lifestyle.

Changes in gut health, lifestyle and increasing debilitating symptoms make it feel as though you are no longer in control of your body, you don’t recognise the person looking back at you in the mirror or the dreaded reflection from shop windows.

You might have a strong desire to improve your lifestyle through diet or exercise but you’re discouraged by the lack of improvements and wonder if this is just how life is now, you might as well accept it as you settle into a Netflix box set and your favourite comforting treat.

I understand how you feel, I have been there and sometimes I take a quick trip back there, only now I have the tools to cope with the ebb and flow of my internal seasons.

Menopause is new territory.

It requires new tactics and discovering a deeper level of health and well-being which are different from societal norms.

Women are so used to punishing themselves whether that is;

  • Negative self-talk
  • Skipping meals
  • Following 1200-calorie-per-day meal plans
  • Exercising to ‘earn’ food

These strategies do not work long-term. They work against your body not with them.

It’s time to try something new and unconventional.  It’s time to nourish your body, not punish it.  It’s time to quiet your mind and listen to what your body is telling you.

Rather than focusing on menopause symptoms, this needs to be switched to finding and understanding the root cause.

The root cause can be stress, poor detox pathways, imbalanced blood sugar or poor gut health to mention just a few.

The good news is this will not only relieve your symptoms but safeguard your future health.

Seeking Your Tribe: Importance of Community

As you embark on this journey of self-discovery you are not a lone wolf it’s good to have some company.

Think about your long-term relationships and close relationships.  How do they make you feel when you think about them?

Your tribe should make you feel;

  • Supported
  • Heard/Seen
  • Loved
  • Valued
  • Respected

Finding your tribe or community during menopause is about more than just seeking companionship, it’s about finding a sense of belonging, mutual respect, validation, and empowerment.

Your tribe will provide each other with;

Emotional Support: Menopause can be a deeply emotional journey, marked by a range of physical symptoms and psychological changes. Having a supportive community to lean on provides a safe space to express feelings, share experiences, and receive validation. Whether it’s discussing mood swings, hot flushes, or existential questions, connecting with others who are going through similar experiences can offer a sense of relief and comfort.

Shared Understanding: Menopause is often accompanied by a sense of isolation or alienation, especially if your experiences are not openly discussed or understood in mainstream society. Finding a tribe of individuals who share similar experiences can foster a sense of belonging and validation. Being part of a community where menopause is openly discussed and normalised helps combat feelings of stigma or shame, empowering individuals to embrace their journey with confidence and self-assurance.

Practical Advice and Tips: Menopause comes with its own challenges, from managing symptoms to navigating changes in relationships and identity. Being part of a supportive community provides access to practical advice, tips, and resources from those who have walked a similar path. Whether it’s sharing recommendations for effective remedies, offering coping strategies for managing symptoms, or providing insights into navigating complex social dynamics, a supportive tribe can offer invaluable guidance and wisdom.

Empowerment through Shared Stories: Sharing stories of personal triumphs, challenges, and growth during menopause can be incredibly empowering. Hearing how others have navigated similar experiences, overcome obstacles, and emerged stronger on the other side can inspire hope and resilience. By sharing their stories within a supportive community, individuals can find strength in vulnerability, fostering a sense of empowerment and solidarity.

Introspection and Self-Discovery

Menopause is sometimes referred to as ‘The Change’.

Not only does this hormonal change bring physical and mental changes it can also bring spiritual changes.

Generally speaking, you have now lived half your life.  Think of all the experiences and challenges you have dealt with.  Menopause allows us to reflect on these.

  • How has your life shaped you?
  • What do you like about yourself and your life?
  • What needs to change?
  • What are your values?
  • How do you want to live the rest of your life?

Menopause presents a myriad of opportunities for personal growth, inviting you to embrace change, to release what no longer serves you, and to step boldly into the unknown.

The Aquarius New Moon reminds us that growth often requires us to venture outside our comfort zones, challenge our assumptions, and embrace the uncertainties of life with open arms.

Here are some ideas to explore this further;

Engage in Self-Reflection, pause, breathe, and turn your gaze inward to reflect on the experiences that have shaped you, the lessons you have learned, and the dreams that stir within your heart.

Explore the Inner Landscape, embrace the complexities of your emotions and honour your intuition.

Self-discovery is a journey of profound transformation, one that holds the power to illuminate your path, awaken your spirit, and ignite your authenticity uncovering your true self.  Living in alignment with your true self can provide physical and mental relief from many menopause symptoms.

Embracing Innovation in Menopause

Menopause challenges us to rethink our approach to health, wellness, and self-care.

By viewing menopause as an opportunity for innovation rather than a hurdle to overcome, you create positive change in your life.

The Aquarius New Moon encourages us to embrace new ideas and technologies that have the potential to enhance our menopausal experience. Whether it’s exploring alternative therapies, or incorporating mindfulness practices into our daily routine innovation offers us a myriad of tools and resources to support our journey through menopause.

By embracing innovation in menopause, you empower yourself to take an active role in your health and well-being, reclaiming control over your body which will provide a positive impact in your life. Whether it’s exploring new avenues for symptom management, adopting novel approaches to self-care, or advocating for yourself with your healthcare professional.

Women can live 30+ years post-menopause therefore it is important to think about your future and what you want that to look like.

Approach the future with optimism and set your intentions with the Aquarius new moon to work towards the future of your dreams.

Conclusion

During the new moon cycle, especially the Lunar New Year, there is always an opportunity for a do-over if you don’t feel 2024 has got off to the right start for you.

Using the themes of each moon cycle allows you to focus on different areas of your life each cycle providing you with harmony over a calendar year.

Focus on the themes for the sign of Aquarius given in this post.  Be guided by each phase of the moon to balance Yin and Yang energy (Feminine and Masculine) by resting and reflecting, planning, taking action then completing and organising before the next cycle.
