5 Tips to Get Back on Track

Do you need to Get Back on Track?

How is 2022 treating you?

What were your thoughts, dreams, wishes, and goals back in January?

We have all been through 2 exhausting years and now according to the news we are entering crisis after crisis, it can leave us feeling out of control and completely overwhelmed.

Feeling overwhelmed and anxious about the future can lead to self-comforting behaviours, especially around food.

Eating for self-comfort makes us feel tired and lethargic.

Knowing our choices have led to us feeling this way just adds disgust and guilt to the increasingly negative feelings we are experiencing.

It’s time to STOP, take a pause and review.

The Perfect Time

This is a perfect time to get back on track.

At midsummer, the sun’s energy is at its highest. We have also just entered a new moon phase which encourages us to reflect and rest before making plans to move forward again.

What were your new years’ resolutions or health and well-being goals for 2022?

Have you reached any of them?

Are they even the same?

Things can change so quickly in our lives and it is important to reflect on what your goals are on a regular basis to ensure they still align with the vision for your life.

Here are 5 tips to help you ga back on track.

Get Back on Track – Tip 1

What are your values?

There is no point in setting a goal to work out at the gym every evening, which takes you away from spending time with your family, if one of your top values is to spend more time with your family!

Creating a happy and harmonious life means living a life that is aligned with our personal values, you can delve deeper into this subject via this blog post.

Write down your goals.

Not society’s goals where you have to fit certain criteria or look a certain way.

How do YOU want to feel?

I work with women of all ages and when we put the goal of losing weight aside, the most common goals are to have more ENERGY & TIME and to feel HAPPY.

Nutrition and organisation are key elements to achieving these goals and a side effect is almost always – weight loss!!

Change your focus – there’s a free tip 😉

Remove decision fatigue.

From the moment we wake until the moment our head hits the pillow we are making decisions such as;

  • What we are going to wear
  • What we are going to eat,
  • Chores that need doing,
  • Work responsibilities PLUS
  • Anyone else’s thinking you have to do – partner/kids!!

How are you supposed to make time in your brain to make decisions about your own health and well-being?

Just a quick google search will have your head wanting to implode.

Creating routines can make life run more smoothly.

They ensure what needs to get done gets done including;

  • What you are going to eat to support your well-being
  • How you can add some MOVEMENT into your day/week
  • Where you can squeeze in some time for yourself
  • Ensuring you get to bed on time for some quality rest

To dive into decision fatigue further and how this, not willpower, scuppers your good intentions read this blog post – Got no Willpower.

Accountability.

Saying you are going to do something is far more effective when you have asked someone to hold you accountable.

In my Facebook group community The Holistic Health Hub I encourage members to set 1-3 goals per week (they have to be achievable/manageable) and write them in the chat.

This isn’t so we can all beat each other if these things don’t get achieved but to encourage us to focus on doing the things that are going to positively affect our lives rather than always getting caught in the weeds.
